Airtel Lanka strengthens its 4G network

Shuts down 3G data network: 2G (voice and text) services continue

Airtel announces discontinuation of 3G data service to enhance additional LTE bandwidth on its network. This will further enhance Airtel Lanka’s 4G / 5G services and provide faster and more consistent customer service. The move will speed up data services by 50% and greatly reduce congestion and blockages on the Airtel network.

3G data services will be discontinued from June 24 this year (2022). However, Airtel Lanka emphasizes that the 2G network will continue to operate and that 2G and 3G customers will be able to access voice and sms services without any hindrance.

Airtel also confirms that a significant number of its users have switched to 4G and are enjoying the benefits of it. Airtel has partnered with a number of leading vendors to facilitate 4G devices at affordable prices. And all 3G enabled users will get 60GB of free 4G data that they can use at any time when switching to 4G.

Airtel is one of the world’s leading communications service providers with 4G network coverage and they have already established a 5G network in Sri Lanka. Airtel also guarantees its customers 4G coverage that enhances seamless video viewing (99% without buffering) and quicker loading times. In addition, Airtel has introduced a range of affordable, high quality and reliable Freedom packs for its users.
