India is reportedly planning to send delegations to Morocco, Tunisia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Turkey, Algeria and Lebanon to discuss wheat exports.
According to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, India has plan a export target of 10 million tonnes (MT) of wheat by 2022-23 amid rising global demand for wheat.
India exported $ 2.05 billion worth of wheat last year.
About 50% of the wheat has been exported to Bangladesh and Egypt has also purchased significant quantities of wheat from India.
The Government of India has also set up a Task Force on the Export of Wheat by appointing representatives from various Ministries under the auspices of the Agriculture and Processed Food Export Development Authority of India (APEDA).
According to reports, the Government of India has advised farmers, traders and exporters to adopt quality standards in order to emerge as a reliable global wheat supplier as the global demand for Indian wheat has increased.
