According to the World Health Organization’s Twitter announcement, 66 children in Gambia have died after drinking syrup produced by an Indian pharmaceutical company, which was given on doctor’s prescription to relieve fever, cold and cough.

The World Health Organization has explained that the children in Gambia, an African country, died from the use of 4 types of syrups produced by the Indian ‘Maiden Pharmaceuticals’ Maiden Pharmaceuticals to alleviate colds and coughs. Foreign media say that Promethazine Oral Solution, Kofexmalin Baby Cough Syrup, Makoff Baby Cough Syrup and Magrip N Cold Syrup are the 4 types of syrup.

The head of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, has said that steps have been taken to conduct an immediate investigation in this regard. It is also said that children who used the syrups died of kidney failure.
