9 million die due to pollution

In 2019 alone, pollution caused 5 million premature deaths globally, according to the latest report released by the Lancet Commission.

The deaths were caused by air pollution, water pollution and soil pollution, as well as other serious illnesses, including cancer, heart and respiratory diseases, the Lancet Commission said in a statement.

The Lancet Commission compiled data for this report in 2019. At that time the world was not affected by the ‘COVID-19’ epidemic. The ‘COVID-19’ epidemic began to hit the world from 2020 until the end of 2021. The Lancet Commission explains that more deaths are due to pollution than the ‘COVID-19’ epidemic.
