Monkeypox virus infections in 15 countries

Monkeypox virus cases have been reported in three other countries.
Foreign media reported that the latest cases were reported from Israel, Switzerland and Austria.

The number of countries where the monkeypox virus has spread has risen to 15.

Monkeypox virus cases reported from Israel and Switzerland are from overseas immigrants.

The virus is reported to be common in remote areas of central and western Africa.

The monkeypox virus has also spread to Europe, the United States, Canada and Australia, with more than 80 confirmed cases.

Although there is no specific vaccine for the monkeypox virus, several countries are reportedly storing smallpox vaccines.

The BBC reports that the smallpox vaccine is about 85% effective in preventing these infections, as the two monkeypox and smallpox viruses are very similar.
