Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera has instructed to increase the amount of fuel currently transported by train to rural areas from 40 percent to 100 percent and to transport all fuel required for the depot by train only.
Kanchana Wijesekera, Minister of Energy has issued a new set of guidelines to ensure uninterrupted fuel transport this afternoon (1).
It is recommended that the process of registering new fuel bowsers be carried out 24 hours a day and that new licenses be issued within a week, and that a separate refueling terminal be given to bowsers owned by filling stations as well as given priority.
Within the next two days, licenses of fuel bowsers that do not report for duty will be revoked and licenses of persons who obstruct service bowsers will be revoked, government bowsers will be used for maximum fuel distribution, payments for private fuel bowsers will be revised, necessary security will be provided and additional fuel stocks will be issued. The Minister has also recommended that the terminal be activated 24 hours a day.
