Fences for telephones in Parliament

Last week, Secretary General of Parliament Dhammika Dasanayake sent a circular to all its divisional heads instructing them to limit the use of telephones in Parliament, taking into account the economic situation in the country.

Accordingly, the head of the department told Lankadeepa that the employees had been instructed not to receive personal telephone calls from the telephones of the Parliament.

The Secretary General of Parliament had earlier instructed the Heads of Departments to restrict the use of electricity and stationery in Parliament.

In addition, the Secretary-General has instructed the Heads of the Restaurant Division to take steps to minimize food wastage in Parliament.

The number of meals prepared daily in Parliament has also been reduced due to the economic situation, canteen officials said.
