Five of the 15 in the Mirihana case are questioned for five hours

Fifteen persons who were arrested and released on bail in connection with the recent protest in front of the President’s residence in Mirihana have been summoned to the CID today (2) and statements have been recorded for nearly 5 hours, police said.

The group appeared before the CID at around 9.30 am today with a team of lawyers led by Attorney-at-Law Nuwan Bopage.

The interrogation took place at 2.00 pm, police said.

Police have arrested 54 suspects in connection with the Mirihana riots on the night of March 31 and they have been released on bail after being produced before the Nugegoda Magistrate’s Court.

Fifteen of them have been summoned to the CID today for questioning and another team will be summoned tomorrow (3), police said.

Statements have been recorded from this group regarding the incident, the persons involved and the persons who set fire to the buses.
