Sri Lanka into the Super 12 round of the 20/20 World Cup

The Sri Lankan team confirmed their place in the Super 12 round of the 2022 T20 World Cup today (20).
That was after winning the match against the Netherlands team in the qualifying round by 16 points.

In Geelong, Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka elected to bat first after winning the toss at Cardinia Park.

Kusal Mendis and Pathum Nissanka’s partnership for the first wicket was 36 runs.

After that, Charit Asanka, who was stable on the field with Kusal Mendis, strengthened the Sri Lankan innings by building a 60-run partnership for the third wicket.

Charit scored 31 runs from 30 balls and Bhanuka Rajapaksa scored 19 runs.

Opener Kusal Mendis scored a brisk 79 to become the highest scorer of the innings.

He scored that number of runs in 44 balls and his innings was colorful with 5 6s and 5 4s.

At the end of the scheduled 20 overs, the Sri Lankan team scored 162 with the loss of 6 wickets.

Entering the field for the reply innings, the first line of the Netherlands lost 3 wickets at 47 runs.

Captain Scott Edwards scored 21 points.

Opening batsman Max O’Dowd scored 71 runs in a lone battle.

He scored that number of runs from 53 balls including 4 6 hits and 4 6 hits in the innings.

The Netherlands, who played the reply innings, managed to score only 146 runs at the end of 20 overs with the loss of 9 wickets.
