This wire bridge is an amazing creation that has become famous among local and foreign tourists. It is believed to have been built by the British colonialists centuries ago. The importance of the bridge is that it is the only wire bridge used as a runway in Sri Lanka. The Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council has repaired it despite it being severely damaged. The scenic location of the bridge provides a more concise way to connect the villages of Panawala, Hingurala Kanda, Pambegama and Godagampola with the Deraniyagala area.
