14 million displaced in Ukraine
According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, 14 million Ukrainians have been displaced since Russian troops invaded Ukraine on February 24.
The High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, told the United Nations Security Council that the invasion of Ukraine by Russian troops has left 14 million Ukrainians homeless.
He said that this is the fastest and largest displacement in decades. He warned that Ukrainians will have to face a very harsh winter.
Mr. Filippo Grandi has pointed out that there is a need to intervene to end the war quickly and that the humanitarian aid provided by the international community is like a drop of water thrown into the sea in response to the attacks on the Ukrainian civil infrastructure.
