After 10 years of heavy rains in Nigeria, the country’s media reports show that 600 people have died and 1.4 million people have lost their homes.

The Nigerian government has told the international community that the affected countrymen need urgent assistance. According to a statement issued by the Nigerian government, 27 of the country’s 36 states are completely submerged.

Sadia Umar Farooq, the minister of humanitarian affairs in Nigeria, has said that 82,000 houses and 1,10,000 hectares of agricultural land have been completely destroyed due to floods.

Heavy flies started to descend on Nigeria last June. The National Emergency Disaster Management Agency has said that an increase in rainfall was seen by the month of August.
