A strong earthquake: Tsunami hazards
An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.2 on the Richter scale has occurred in the sea off the
island of Taiwan. Tsunami warnings were also issued considering the strength of the earthquake.
The earthquake struck at 2:44 p.m. Taiwan time. Geologists say that the epicenter of the earthquake is 10 kilometers below the sea floor off the city of Taitung.
It also said that tsunami warnings have only been issued for Taiwan’s coastal areas.
It is reported that many houses and buildings have been damaged by the earthquake, and two apartment buildings have completely collapsed. No casualties or casualties have been reported so far.
