A two-day ceasefire in Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin has decided to go for a two-day complete ceasefire on the occasion of ‘Orthodox’ Christmas.

This is the first time Russia has initiated a full ceasefire since February 24, 2022, when it began military operations against Ukraine.

According to a statement released by the Kremlin, Russian President Putin expressed his willingness to a ceasefire in honor of the request made by the 76-year-old Pratyash Kryl, the “Orthodox” religious leader of Russia.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has expressed his happiness over Russian President Putin’s willingness to go to a two-day full ceasefire on the occasion of ‘Orthodox’ Christmas.

The Turkish President made a phone call to the Russian President and requested that the ceasefire not be limited to two days only.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused Russian President Vladimir Putin’s decision to go to a two-day complete ceasefire on the occasion of ‘Orthodox’ Christmas as a show of false goodwill.

Ukrainian President Zelenskiy has stressed that in order to start a real ceasefire, Russian troops must withdraw from the provinces and cities they have forcibly captured.
