Accused to Former PM Imran for Restricting media freedom

Pakistan’s Information Minister Mariam Aurangzeb has accused former Prime Minister Imran Khan of torturing journalists, abducting them and shutting down their programs. The new news minister made the allegation at a press conference held at the Lahore Press Club.

Local media reported, She also accused Imran Khan of using the fatwa Islamic law to cover up his government’s weaknesses.

She said it was more practical to address the problems of journalists than to condemn the actions of the former prime minister, and assured that those issues would be resolved.

She called for the restoration of media freedom and rights, and praised the role played by the media in re-establishing democracy in Pakistan. She said Imran’s party had taken steps to organize a massive march in Pakistan on the 20th and that it would escalate into bloodshed, adding that the current government would take steps to stop such violence.
