An American school shooting
At least 21 people have been killed in a shooting at an elementary school in Texas.
Of those 21, 19 are school children and one of the other two is a school teacher, American media reports. That teacher is Eva Merales.
The shooting happened at an elementary school in the small town of Yuvelde, near the American-Mexican border in the state of Texas.
The shooter was an 18-year-old boy.
“Salvador Ramos is an American citizen living in Texas,” Texas Gov. Greg Abbott told reporters.
Salvador Ramos was shot dead by police.
Police later discovered that his grandmother had been shot and killed before Salvador Ramos broke into the school and opened fire. She is said to be the second adult to die in the shooting.
Overseas US President Joe Biden has said he was “shocked” by the news of the attack.
The American media has reported that Salvador Ramos has a girlfriend in Mexico and that he tried to bring her to the United States, but when that failed, he resorted to this inhumane act of violence.
