Bhutan is open to tourists
After two and a half years, Bhutan has reopened to tourists. Bhutan had closed its borders due to the spread of ‘Covid-19’.
Tourism is also considered as a major source of income in Bhutan. A new tourism tax will also be implemented as the country reopens to tourists.
Earlier this tourist tax was 65 US dollars. However, it has been revised to USD 200.
Bhutan did not charge any tourist tax to Indians before it closed its borders and became isolated due to ‘Covid-19’.
However, after reopening the country, the Bhutanese government has said that taxes will be collected from Indians as well.
