Bridge collapses in India, 40 dead
40 people lost their lives when a small suspension bridge collapsed in the Indian state of Gujarat. The number of injured and survivors is 30.
The 230-meter-long passenger bridge over Machuchu River in the town of Morbi collapsed. It is also said that there were more than 400 people on the bridge when it collapsed.
Officials say that this collapsed because there were too many people on the bridge.
Gujarat is the home state of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It is also said that Modi is currently in Gujarat for a three-day visit.
