First Black Supreme Court Justice

Ketanji Brown Jackson was sworn in as the 116th US Supreme Court Justice. Ketanji Brown is notable for being the first black female Supreme Court justice.

Ketanji Brown Jackson, 51, has served as a federal judge since 2013.

She will work with Supreme Court Justices Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan and Amy Coney Barrett.

This is the first time that four women judges will serve in the nine-judge Supreme Court.

Last April, the Senate approved Ketanji Brown Jackson’s appointment by majority votes.
