Gandhi’s grandson’s name for Indian presidential election

The Indian presidential election will be held on July 18 and the call for nominations has already begun.

The main opposition political group in India, the Congress, has proposed the name of Gopal Krishna Gandhi, the 77-year-old grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, but he has turned it down.

Gopal Krishna Gandhi has said that he should nominate a more suitable candidate for the presidency.

Gopal Krishna Gandhi was an experienced politician. He has served as the Indian High Commissioner to South Africa and Sri Lanka. He also served as the Chief Minister of the State of West Bengal.

In addition to Gopal Krishna Gandhi, opposition groups have also nominated Sharad Power, chairman of the National Congress Party, and Farooq Abdullah, a former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, but both have turned down the offer.

The process of electing a new President of India started on June 15 and will continue till June 29. Voting for the presidency takes place in parliament.
