Loss of Freedom of the press in the Philippines
As the son of former Philippine dictator Ferdinand Marcos, Ferdinand Marcos Jr., aka Bongbong, was sworn in, authorities moved to shut down one of the Philippines’ leading investigative media websites.
The website called ‘Rappler’, founded by Mariaf Reza, who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2021, revealed the corruption scams of the Philippine government.
It is said that this website exposed many corruption scandals in the government of former Philippine President Rodrigo Duteres. Sara Duteres, daughter of Rodrigo Duteres, is the new Vice President of the Philippines.
64-year-old Ferdinand Marcos aka ‘Bongbong’ won the presidential election held on May 9.
