More than a million cases of coronavirus have been reported in North Korea as of yesterday (Jan. 16) following the outbreak of a severe “omichron” epidemic, North Korean state media reported.
Although many people have contracted the flu due to the spread of the “Omicron” corona virus, the North Korean government has only said that the flu is spreading across the country. Western media have reported that North Korea’s restrictions on corona testing have made it difficult to determine the exact number of corona infections in the country. According to media reports, the majority of people in North Korea who are currently locked up are at high risk of contracting the corona virus due to the fact that they have not been vaccinated against corona and have a poor health system in the country. North Korean health officials have strongly criticized North Korean leader Kim Jong Un for ordering the army to assist in the distribution of essential medicines to people infected with corona as the omicron wave spreads across the country.
