Panamanians take to the streets
Protests against the Panamanian government are escalating as the cost of living continues to rise. Foreign media reported that workers in the country’s construction sector have also joined the protests.
Protests are taking place not only in the capital, Panama City, but in every other major city, and protesters are said to be turning violent and damaging public property.
Uncontrolled rise in fuel and food prices has become a cause of public protest. Inflation is also increasing rapidly day by day.
The government has tried to control the cost of living in the wake of the protests, but it has allegedly failed. Inflation in Panama has increased by 3.3 percent compared to the first five months.
