President Macron’s coalition wins majority
French parliamentary elections were held, and President Emanuel Macron’s moderates were able to maintain a majority in parliament.
His coalition, led by President Macron, was challenged by the Left Alliance. Many French political analysts had predicted that Macron’s moderates would lose a majority in parliament.
The Left Alliance, which sought to challenge Macron, was made up of far-left political groups, socialist and independent ‘green’ political groups.
He needed 289 seats to win a majority in parliament, while his moderate coalition, led by Macron, won 577 seats.
