The United Nations Human Rights Council has launched an investigation into Russia’s war crimes against Ukraine.
That was after a special resolution was passed.
Thirty-three members of the 47-member UN Human Rights Council voted in favor of the resolution.
Twelve members abstained, while China and Eritrea voted against.
Russia did not attend the session in protest of the resolution.
Accordingly, a special commission of inquiry will be set up into Russia’s war crimes.
Addressing the session, the Ukrainian Foreign Minister said that his country, which has been invaded by Russia, is experiencing the strongest human rights violations on the European continent.
Meanwhile, the UN refugee agency says more than 6 million people have been displaced by the war in Ukraine.
Of those, 3.3 million have fled to Poland.
