US election gains for Democrats
The results of the American mid-term elections were released yesterday (9) and after a fierce battle, the ruling Democratic Party succeeded in defeating the rival Republican Party.
The American Parliament or ‘Congress’ consists of a House of Representatives and a Senate. Midterm elections were held to elect representatives for 435 seats in the House of Representatives and 35 of the 100 seats in the Senate.
After a fierce battle, President Joe Biden’s Democratic Party secured the majority in the House of Representatives.
Democrats also held the majority in the Senate. Accordingly, Democratic President Joe Biden will be able to pass the bills unimpeded until the 2024 presidential election.
