Woman to become North Korea’s foreign minister
A woman has been appointed North Korea’s foreign minister. This is the first time a woman has been appointed Foreign Minister. Cho Sen Hui, also considered an experienced diplomat, has been appointed Foreign Minister.
Prior to his appointment as Foreign Minister, Cho Sen Hui served as Deputy Foreign Minister. Prior to Cho Sen Hui’s appointment as Foreign Minister, Ri Song Gwon was a hardline military official. Ri Son-gwon is said to have mediated North Korea’s recent peace talks with South Korea.
During the Trump administration, there were several face-to-face meetings between Trump and North Korean leader Kiss Jon. Cho Sen Hui, then deputy foreign minister, was present at the meeting with the North Korean leader. Cho Sen Hui can speak English very well.
